Preparation for the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse - April 8th

The Bush School students will be officially observing this eclipse from Waco, Texas. To prepare for and commemorate this event, we plan to hold a few daytime and nighttime observing events from Bush school as weather permits during the month of March.  Look for invitations during the month of March to attend these events and observe via the Bush Telescope from school campus grounds. However, please note that it is very hard to plan these things as we are at the mercy of Mother Nature. So, during the upcoming weeks, please pay close attention to emails from Chandru with the subject “Solar Eclipse Fever” announcing dates and times.  Hopefully you can join us for one or more of the observing events.

Here is a video of the Sun on a cloudy day in February 2024 taken via the Bush Solar Telescope with 3 prominent sunspots visible! Also below is an image of al almost full moon taken just a few days later.

Annular Solar Eclipse Day October 14, 2023

The northern extent of the annular eclipse of 2023 was visible in Eugene, OR, however a partial eclipse with maximum extent of 86% was visible in Seattle, WA.  Tom Bergeron - the Math Teacher & Photographer extraordinaire snagged this picture from Vashon Island. What a wonder - Thank you Tom!
